Today was Allie's first day of Tender Treasures Preschool twice a week. I am fairly sure I was more nervous than she was. She excitedly got ready and ate breakfast. I was a little worried about her tight grip on my hand and lots of looking up finding reassurance in my glance during our first couple minutes there, but before I knew it she let go and ran off playing saying "Bye Mom!" without giving me another look. Boy how time flies. She is 4 years old! She will be going to Kindergarten next year! Time sure passes away from you, especially once children enter your lives.
I'll be honest, Ryan and I had our hesitations about this move. Why does Allie even need to go to preschool? We are responsible for teaching her alot. She knows prob more Bible verses than some adults, she can read and write all her letters and numbers. This summer her reading skills took off as she started reading Hop on Pop by Dr. Seuss. So why does she need Preschool you say? Well you see she has never really been away from mom. She has never had to stand in line for the water fountain or wait her turn for the bathroom. These are much needed things to know when you enter Kindergarten. And to be honest, I am hesitate about public school as well. Not at all that my kid isn't good enough or anything, but can't I teach her at home? I could use the Bible as my base curriculm and work everything from there...I have weighed it a thousand times in my mind and can't decide. Really, Allie loves being around other kids. I think she will LOVE school. She needs that. So for now my thoughts are sending her to the shark pit of kindergarten where she could be one of the youngest. You see if i am going to send her what is the point of holding her back one year? She will be turning 5 in July then starting K the next month. I can't see putting off the inevitable for a year for my sake, when she is a mature smart little girl. Its not like I am sending her into a school where the older kids are sitting on the tables playing black jack talking about the White Snake (wenge that was for you) concert they went to last night. Its Kindergarten. Right?

First of all, DO NOT LEAVE anonymous postings to this blog. Man (or woman) up and put your name behind your comments. Secondly, because of your wonderful words you choose to leave on my family blog thousands may be drawn to my site when they try and google those words and gaze upon my lovely daughters faces. Thanks a TON!!! Lastly, I realize public school isn't perfect but if you were that concerned I would have thought of a better way to vocalize it. Talk to tara and ask her how christian school compares...she'll tell you ALOT worse! So NO MORE words that contain graphic messages on this heady blog. UNDERSTANDO?
