Today was an interesting day. Sam's parents kept the girls while sam and i went to TTU to sign my contract, then we met up with my office crew from Sparta for lunch at O'Charleys.
The day started with sam and i checking out the bookstore at TTU. It was much as i had remembered from school... overpriced. I looked at some shirts and things, but decided to go visit Sam Walton for alittle TTU apparel. I did get the one thing i went into the bookstore for though, a bumber sticker. My plan is to take the bumper sticker with me to Los Angeles next week. I'm hoping that if by some wild hair Jay does something with the audience that night, and by some even wilder chance cam and i get picked I'm going to try and give him a TTU bumper sticker for his garage. I figure at that point I'll always be known on campus as the dude that was on with Leno ha ha. I'm 99% sure i'll just wind up witha bumper sticker for RV1. The contract signing was more than just signing. They called it orientation. I got to go though orientation with the new defensive coordinator for TTU football. Both of us signed lots of paper work. I have to go back next wednesday to finalized the paperwork, get a parking tag, make a photo id, yada yada yada. (tara, you should get an ID too hint hint)
After orientation we ran over to O'Charleys to meet my office crew. I hate that the orientation ran later than i had planned. We were late to the lunch and most everyone had already eaten. Other than that it was great to eat with the gang as always. Everyone from my office, plus Bill and Marylin joined us. The crew went together and got me a really nice card and some cold hard cash! That was really nice. I imagine it will be seed money for the Leno trip.
Once i had packed away a Louisianan sirloin (great steak if you like alittle spice). Sam and i took the walnut way back to TTU. The afternoon session was more hands on. We met with Carol from my office and spoke about specifics of my job and what is to come. I think they are excited for me to be there, and I'm excited to be there as well. There will no doubt be alot of learning, but it should be alot of fun as well. Everyone i've met so far has been really friendly. Carol took some time to show me to my office. I must say the view from the office is really nice! I'm attaching a couple of pictures below, but they were with my cell phone and look pretty fuzzy. To get to my office you need a compass, a pack mule and a little luck but once you get there its really nice. I think it has been used for storage, but once i get it all arranged it should be really nice. There is lots of space, so i'm thinking it might be good for doing some small group training etc. Im pretty excited about the window view. they gave me a key today so i'm official. The only draw back that i see to the office so far is i do no think it will be wheel chair accessible. I was hoping Jones would be able to stop in occasionally, but i haven't figured out yet how he could get to it. I guess that means he's going to force me to take the hike across campus to see him sit in his office with the lights off. I think he does that so students will think he is not in, but i'm not sure ha ha. So that was today pretty much in a nut shell. I reckon i'll get off of this blog and sort through the pile of papers i brought home. Enjoy the fuzzy pics below. Click on them to see the fuzzyness at full cell phone resolution ha ha.
