Hollywood Update

Today was a whirl wind day for us. We rented a car and started our journey to see as much as you can see of LA in one day. We started out toward Long beach. Long beach turned out to be mostly a harbor area as best we could tell. We saw some pretty neat ships, including Queen Mary . We had our hearts set on sand so we headed north toward Santa Monica. This beach was a nice place. We beat most of the crowd there. It was alittle cool, but lots of folks were biking, jogging, playing volley ball etc. I'm not a huge beach person but this was pretty sweet. We got some pretty good pics as you can see on the link below. A common, and vital theme of todays journey centered around "Sally Garmin". Sally is our GPS that took us about 138 miles today. Cam drove, and I navigated the electronic map. One of our funnier moments happened about 1/10th of a mile from the car rental place this morning. We had been in the car about 30 seconds when we were already in trouble with the law. Sally was directing us to our breakfast location. We were at a red light, light was green and we were turning left. There was no arrow so we were waiting on the traffic for an opening. Well traffic was alittle heavy, so an opening never came and the light turned red. Well we heard a "squak squak" cops behind us. then the speaker came from his car. "Pay attention to the light next time". Then "back up your over the line" so we backed up. At this point we are wetting ourselves. We've been LA drivers for less than a minute and we were already fugitives. I'm not sure what he was meaning, but unless we were to plow through and die not sure what law we broke. After eating some breakfast, we calmed our nerves. The rest of the day cam drove like a champ and was really settling into the LA way. I'm getting pretty quick on the GPS too. We were able to see the Hollywood sign later in the day, had time to eat at the In-n-out burger. We visited "LA Ink", we didn't get a tatoo but saw where they film the show. It was pretty neat actually. As we drove down Hollywood Blvd. we got to see a protest against Scientology. There are churches for that all over the place down here. The protesters were pretty crazy looking. You can find them in the pictures as well. All and all it was a great day of sight seeing. We are both pretty worn out. We are pumped about tomorrow. There will be a couple hours of just waiting around, but after that we'll be in with Leno, the main reason for the trip. I will say we saw an open house today on our journey. For only $798,000 we could live in an apartment about the size of my movie room back home. Very very small. Call me crazy, but i think i'll stay in TN. Well i'm sure there is more, but my brain is getting fuzzy from jet planes, time changes, hours in a rental car. We are going to get some sleep so we can go on the NBC tour in the morning and then "The Tonight Show" you kids tune in monday night to see if we are on camera.

enjoy some of the pics we have taken so far.
