Go Green

Going green seems to be a big buzz right now. I can't say i consider myself a "tree hugger" or anything like that, but we have been working on becoming more green. Our reasons are probably more selfish than "protecting mother earth". Our going green has to do more with cash than helping the planet. We have a limited amount of green each month and much of it was going out the window in the form of heating and cooling. We have taken steps over the past month or so to help this. We replaced our old unit outside to an efficient "dual fuel" unit. It does electric when electic is efficient, and when it gets below a certain temp it uses natural gas. Our first month it saved us about 50 bucks. Yesterday phase two was completed. New windows!! to give you an idea about our old windows, recently during the a cold spell there was ice on the inside of the bathroom window. That doesn't really scream efficient. Well the new ones are in and are very efficient. We hope to see more savings next month. We have a couple more projects. One is to add some insulation to the attic. The other is two replace two doors that are letting out alot of air. At that point we hope we have done as much as we can to help keep those dollars floating inside the house and not around the neighborhood.

There is nothing wrong with hugging a tree or two.
