Sometimes things happen in a way, in a timing that you can only attribute it to God putting it in order. For the few unfortunate folks that have been around the heady clan the past few days, you know that we have been smack dab in the middle of a complaint rain storm. The details of such will not be seen on this blog, but most of you probably know what i'm talking about.
Anyway, this story revolves mostly around the picture you see above. There is a church in Missouri that started this drive to become a "complaint free church." Timbo introduced us to it today at lunch time. This happened last year and has been in the media alot apparently. I have read several of the news articles about it, and have listened to the sermons that spurred it on this afternoon. You can read about the church on their website. On their page you can see about the inspiration as well as all of the impact it has had. The idea is simple, but pretty clever. You were a bracelet, one not that different than the yellow live strong ones we all saw so much of not that long ago. This one is purple and says "A complaint free world .org" The idea behind it is to put it on one arm. If you complain about something you swap it over to the other arm. The goal is go 21 days with it on the same arm to help you break free of the draining powers of complaining. (Apparently science has said it takes 21 days to break a habit if your wondering why 21.) At first i thought, shouldn't be too hard, i don't gripe about that many big things. But after spending a few hours this afternoon doing tech support at UT, and living with micrsoft vista. I realized that i mumble alot more complaints than i realized. A few proud soliders here in sparta are going to give this a whirl. I'll let you know how it is going.
Now the ironic part. Timbo was telling us about this, and told us that he found out about this a couple months ago. He ordered a few of the bracelets just to try and give away. Well they were delivered this morning to the church. They arrived only hours after one of the greatest complaint ridden weekends in sparta's history. Really pretty amazing. I hope that this small reminder will help me deal with complaints, as well as think before i speak.
